If you’re like most readers of this blog, you already care about the world and you want to make a difference. But caring isn’t easy.
Does this sound like you?
- Either you’re just beginning to realise the enormity of some of the world’s greatest challenges – extreme poverty, conflict, climate change, human trafficking etc. – and you’re asking yourself “Where do I get started?” and “Can I really make a difference?”
- Or maybe you’ve been at it for a while – working for an international NGO, volunteering, or serving in ministry – and need others who ‘know what it’s like’ to sharpen you and keep you motivated.
- You’re also busy, and it often feels like you never get the time to do what it is you’re truly passionate about.
You need a plan. And you need support. But most of all, you need to discover that –
There is a unique role in the fight against poverty and injustice that only you can fill and it is waiting for you now!
A place where the skills, passions, gifts and opportunities you have been made with, become the answer to another individual, community or nation’s needs.
I Know How You Feel
I know what it feels like to care so much it hurts, but yet not know where to begin (or how to keep moving forward with the same passion). I didn’t have it hard growing up. I was raised in a nice, safe, comfortable suburb, the son of a doctor and a nurse. I had no idea what life was like for so many people in the world, but once I found out I knew I had to do something.
I didn’t know what to study. I didn’t know how to help. And no one told me how many mistakes I’d make in my efforts to ‘do good’. Mistakes that were embarrassing, painful and worst of all, detrimental to the very people I thought I was there to serve!
But I’ve also been surrounded by some incredibly wise people. People that have encouraged me, taught me and even rebuked me when needed (which is more times than I care to mention!). I’ve had the opportunity to work at several incredible organisations, World Vision, Compassion Australia, and the International Nepal Fellowship, and to have been a part of numerous campaigns and movements for social change.
Living and working with my wife in Nepal for more than two years (that’s us below!), where we were totally immersed in the struggles people faced there to meet their daily basic needs, also gave us a unique perspective into the questions of ‘How to make a difference?’ in ways that are sustainable, well informed and empowering for those around us.
These days I’m the Campaign Director for Micah Australia – a coalition of churches and Christian organisations raising a powerful voice for justice and a world free from poverty.
My Goal In Leading This Blog
I want you to enjoy making a difference in this world and I want you to feel like you have the tools, ‘know how’ and opportunities to make an impact on the issues you care about most. That’s why I’ve gathered my friends – leading humanitarians, campaigners and social entrepreneurs from across the world – to share with you their knowledge and experiences.

Yes, you can make a difference in this world. But first you need to discover your unique purpose. All it takes is the intention and a community of likeminded people to guide and support you. If you’ll provide the first, we’ll provide the second. Let’s get started together.
